We are proud to announce that Mayor Bruce Wilkerson, of Bowling Green Kentucky, has been selected as president of our Daymar College’s Bowling Green Campus.
Mayor Bruce Wilkerson is no stranger to Daymar College. In fact in he has had a long, supportive relationship with the college that begun in the ‘90s. At the time, he had retired from working at the Bowling Green Police Department; although still involved, Wilkerson noticed police recruits were lacking the skills, training and knowledge needed for the job. Daymar College had just unveiled its new Criminal Justice Program, that’s when he decided with his years of experience and passion for helping others succeed, he could assist in preparing candidates for the job. Mayor Wilkerson continued his passion for education as an instructor in the Criminal Justice Program for a more than five years.
Fast forward, now Wilkerson finds himself coming back to Daymar College for more reasons than one “Daymar is special. They give the individual attention to its students. They bring accountability to students’ lives. They allow students the opportunity to reach their full potential. Daymar is so involved with its students, sometimes at large campuses you feel lost, and Daymar closes that gap by focusing on the students”
Mayor Wilkerson having lead the city government workforce development initiatives, for the betterment of Bowling Green citizens, along with his passion for education believes “Daymar brings this great opportunity of filling those positions to our community, allowing people to receive the education they need to have the opportunity to land those jobs and support their families.”
Daymar College’s Chancellor and CEO, Dan Peterson said “Mayor Wilkerson was a perfect choice to lead the Bowling Green Campus. He has a passion for helping others. He wants others to succeed and reach their full potential. That fits in perfect alignment with who Daymar College is and why we exist.” Peterson also said “In everything we do, we believe that education is power and that access to education is a fundamental right. We want to give those who may not have access the opportunity to enhance their skillset; find something they are passionate about and find careers that will enhance their communities, their families, their lives.”
Mayor Wilkerson will officially join the Bowling Green Campus on Monday, February 15th. He replaces Joel Musgrove who took on a new role as Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Operations at the college.
